26 May 2019Espresso Academy Best Barista School in Italy!
Our academy has been awarded as best barista school in Italy: for number of students, number of foreign students, number of SCA certificates.
The SIGEP, one of the most important coffee exhibitions in Italy is also, due to its popularity, the home of the WBC Italian barista championship. During this Italian coffee festival Espresso Academy has been claimed as the best barista school in Italy.
For us that we have created Espresso Academy and that we run it on since years, being consider the best barista school in Italy is a great honor. A great honor and an important acknowledgment for what we do every day to pursue the two pillars of our mission.
- Improve more and more the quality of our training. More and more updated and improved in the training techniques in order to make the courses more and more efficient. For this aim we increase every day the level of our trainers (all of them are SCA trainers, two are Q-graders and one is “Black Jug” LAGS)
- Improve the experience of our students above all for those coming from abroad with a challenging journey to get to know Italian coffee up close. For them full immersion courses in English together with coffee lovers from all over the world. With the courses also the possibility to integrate their period in our barista academy with visits to famous Italian coffee and coffee machines companies and internships.
The Motivation of the award as Best Barista School
As I have already said (but it’s true!!) this prize has been a great honor, but we have found ourselves even prouder reading the motivations.
- Highest number of students per year, among independent barista schools (are defined independent schools the one not owned and advertising coffee machines, coffee tools and coffee companies).
- Highest numbers of students from abroad. In the last two years the 52% of our students are arrived from abroad. Around one third from Europe, one third from Asia (Middle East and Southeast Asia) and another large percentage from America (various country: from Canada to Argentina). They have taken part in different courses.
Around 24% of them has taken part to the Espresso Discovery a course of just three hours to discover the Italian coffee world (and make practice with the cappuccinos!). Others (38%) has, on the contrary, taken part to the entire “One week coffee route“. This is a challenging journey that starts from the knowledge of green coffee and coffee roasting to the most advanced barista techniques and the most intensive coffee cupping courses. - Highest number of SCA certifications. In the last year the authorized trainers of Espresso Academy have followed more than 180 exams sca barista certification foundation level and also 42 sca intermediate barista. The scaa certificate courses for Roasting, Sensory, Green Coffee and Brewing have been have been around 330 and the 20% of them have got also the sca intermediate certificate in these areas.
Our barista academy has also certified 28 students with the Latte Art Grading System (LAGS) on various level.
Yes, this award is an honor for us, but maybe we have deserved it, and we will better and better, day by day, to become the best barista school in Italy and in the world!
