Two amazing #Happycoffepeople, today we interview Molly and Chris from Cleeveland, USA that are going to open theys brand new roastery and Coffee Shop “Ready Set” with the support of Espresso Academy’s Team.
Why did you attend the Espresso academy courses?
Molly- After designing a coffee bar I was interested in working in the industry and worked at 2 separate locations. I wanted to learn more about coffee and knew I had to find classes to get training beyond what was offered where I worked in order to open my own coffee bar. I went online to look for a place that offered a wide variety of classes and certification. The Espresso Academy offered the One Week Coffee Route where we could get an overview of everything. We didn’t find anything else like it.
Chris- We attended the One Week Coffee Route in the Fall of 2018. I also had additional instruction in July of 2019.
3 words to describe the school?

Chris – Informative, Inspiring, Fun
….3 more
Molly – Exciting, intense, fun
Useful for your career…
Molly – I was working as a barista and needed more training if I was going to open my own shop. In choosing the Espresso Academy I was hoping to further my understanding of coffee to be a better barista and be able to train future employees.
What I found was so much more. I realized how much there is to learn and all the career opportunities there are involving specialty coffee. I had never considered coffee roasting, but after the roasting class with Marco, I knew we had to roast coffee. Less than a year of attending the Espresso Academy, we now have a roaster, signed a lease, and feel confident that we are on our way to having a successful business. I credit so much of this to all the professional instructors that trained us – from coffee management, sensory, brewing, barista skills and roasting. They all are professional in their field and obviously have a passion for what they do and a love for teaching others.
We are currently roasting coffee in a temporary space and planning the design of our coffee bar which is currently under construction.
Chris – I had attended the Academy with little knowledge in the field of coffee. So everything I learned was new and exciting to me. The courses I took were my introduction into the world of specialty coffee and inspired me to start a new career in the field. The instructors not only only were knowledgable, but experienced in the field in so many areas
Do you work in the coffee industry now?
Chris – Yes, I am helping to open up a roasting company/coffee bar and lab called Ready Set! in Cleveland, OH.
Future projects?
Molly- We are currently working on a San Franciscan 6lb roaster and plan to order a 25 lb roaster in 2020. We bought a small production canner and will be including a line of canned coffees that we hope to offer by the fall of 2019 and we are working to open our Coffee Bar at the same time.
In addition, we plan to always have a collaboration with The Espresso Academy and look forward to more advanced classes and having them here again to work with us.
