Are you passionate about coffee and have always dreamed of visiting a real coffee plantation? Your dreams are about to come true with our trip to origin in collaboration with “The 7 Elements” in Peru!
For years, at Espresso Academy we’ve been searching for the right partner for our dream project: organizing tailor-made experiences in coffee origin countries.
In fact, finding a partner for this project was not as easy as we initially thought. One of the key elements we were looking for was extreme reliability, given that the journey can also take place in very remote and difficult to reach locations. Additionally to the knowledge about coffee, we were looking for a partner able to also offer a pleasant travel experience while being good at communicating in different languages and offering a truly interesting and educational travel program.
For all these reasons we chose The 7 Elements , in the region of Oxapampa in Peru.
When we first met “The 7 Elements” and its soul, Giorgio Piracci, we realized that his project was way more than all the requirements listed above.
In fact, when discovering more about “The 7 Elements” we quickly realized we were getting involved in something that goes far beyond the simple knowledge and growth of coffee. It actually means dealing with a group of coffee enthusiasts who’ve involved various indigenous villages of the Yanesha communities of the Amazon Peruvian into a project which aims at preserving their natural resources and supporting their economic development.
The 7 Elements doesn’t simply grow coffee. They support the environment and soil through permaculture, a method and true vision of agriculture which doesn’t move “against” nature (herbicides, fertilizers, etc.) but “with” nature itself by safeguarding the animals which feed on harmful insects, facilitating the natural regeneration of the soil, growing a multitude of different plant varieties next to each other to increase the nutrient richness of the soil, and many more procedures that support the healthy and sustainable balance of the ecosystem.
Third, and last but not least, “The 7 Elements” cultivates only high-level specialty coffees, processed in many cases with fermentation and maceration methods and offered on international markets.
The 7 Elements has been organizing trips to origin for many years now, both for schools, research institutions and people working in the world of coffee.
For those of you who wish to get to know Giorgio Piracci and “The 7 Elements” better, we recommend taking a look at the interview we made with them, for our “Meet the coffee farmer” format on YouTube:
