16 December 2017COFFEE TECHNICIANS GUILD SUMMIT 16-17 November 2017 Susegana, Italy
Here at Espresso Academy we all have a great passion for coffee and we’re glad to be able to teach and pass our knowledge to all our students. But every now and then it’s time to relax and become the student instead..
This month a great opportunity presented itself in a small town in north Italy called Susegana where the newest Guild of the Specialty Coffee Association organized their 3rd Summit to bring together and educate coffee technicians from all around the world!
Our trainers Simone Cellli and Robert Brinck decided to participate hoping to find new inspiration for future projects and to improve the quality of our Espresso Machine Maintenance and Reparation courses.
The first morning started with registration, coffee, welcome and opening ceremonies followed by an introduction of the organizers, speakers and sponsors of the event and, without any time to lose, our first lectures!
The two days were packed with workshops about everything, from quality of water, cleaning products, preventative maintenance, principles of electricity, instruments for testing machines, grinders and technical evaluation of espresso extraction. And we’d like to thank all the speakers personally for preparing these lectures and answering many tricky questions.
Wednesday evening the CTG organized an amazing dinner at Castello San Salvatore where the participants were able to taste many local seasonal dishes and, after dinner, take part in a team challenge where their technician skills were tested.
The event was in our opinion a great success and we encourage any interested technician or coffee geek to take part in it next time, the Coffee Technicians Guild seems to be working very hard and they’re doing a great job!
